About faceupcymru

Our area of activity lies within South East Wales with a support and social centre in Llanishen, Cardiff. A well-equipped support and meeting centre to support patients who have been treated for head, neck or oral cancer is at the Bethel Church/Community Arts Centre in Bethel Place, off Llangranog Road, Llanishen, Cardiff CF14 5BJ. The building was designed as a multi purpose facility and faceupcymru shares the premises and facilities with the church, which benefits both charities. With a joint use agreement and in a spirit of partnership, Bethel church and faceupcymru can take advantage of the benefits offered by working closely but quite separately as two distinct organisations.

Now we have established our centre, we have made positive steps to povide a faceupcymru Clinical Nurse Specialist to support the Head and Neck department at UHW. The nurse should be in post by the middle of October 2009 and will be fully funded by faceupcymru for a minimum of two years.

If you are prepared to help out by organizing meetings and events then we would very much appreciate your input. Please contact us to have a chat about how you can help in our work.

faceupcymru can provide speakers to organizations and associations. Together with the faceupcymru nurse based at the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff, we will gladly arrange talks, with visual presentations, to interested groups.

With good links in schools and colleges in South East Wales, we provide a strong visual anti-smoking message to students. We are also able to talk to voluntary groups throughout the area and welcome approaches.

The friends of faceupcymru organize social activities for patients, ex patients, friends, family and supporters. Our regular mailings give full details of the activities.
